Wandering Thursday

It's a little chilly, a little cloudy, and I was not sure what to do today.  I have so many started and not finished adventures I decided to work on the Native Sons and Daughters Signs.

I couldn't even decided where to start.
Finally chose I Rivermarket.

Sign # 6 - 54 to go
Town of Kansas

A new sign that has been put up.

Sign #7 - Hannibal Bridge.  53 signs to go.
You might have noticed there is not a sign.
It noted the sign is missing.  I'm counting it.

Sign #8, 52 to go
Marker was stolen but City Market put one up.
Pacific House Hotel

This is the Hotel.
I don't think I've ever posted about it.

The original building, constructed circa 1860, burned down in 1868 but was used as a Union headquarters during the Civil War. The building was where General Thomas Ewing of the United States Army issued General Order Number 11, which called for the evacuation of four Missouri counties in the wake of William Qunatrill's raid on Lawrence and other Kansas communities.

After the war, the building again served as a hotel until it was destroyed in an 1868 fire. The building was quickly rebuilt and operated as a hotel for decades, and it was converted into loft-style apartments in 1999.

Messy Hair but Sign #9 - 51 to go
Founding of the KCMO Fire Department

A new mural across the street

I stopped by an antique store but bought nothing.

Not sure what is happening here but see the old stone wall

Sign #10, 50 signs to go.
150th Anniversary of City Market

Mural at City Market

Then I bought some "ugly" fruit.
8 apples for $1.00
1 Quart of Strawberries for $1.00
Good Deals

So in the end I wondered around and picked up shots of 5 signs with 50 to go.  There are usually people around at the City Market and lots of people live in this area so you are never alone walking around.  I do appreciate that.  I did have a wonderful time wondering.

Until tomorrow.
