I really started the day with a plan. I wanted to work on the Native Sons and Daughters signs. Our last count was 47 signs left.
I parked by my favorite parking garage at 9th and Central.
Sign #14. 46 Signs to go.
Savoy Hotel and Grill
I've shown this sign before.
The backside of the building with windows bricked up.
I took a selfie with Mark Twain.
Camp Union - new sign
Sign #15/ 45 signs to go
It was 8 feet up the side of a building.
I passed a substation.
Kansas City Police work for the state not for the city.
You will probably never get a traffic ticket in KCMO.
They don't care.
And now I have fallen out track.
Beautiful building
Fire Department 1902
Fire Station #2
The Kirk Building
The building where Walt Disney worked as a cartoon artist.
The Kansas City Slide Company occupied this site from 1913 to 1920,
moving locations after Disney was hired.
The building fell into disrepair and in 1983 Phil Kirk purchased and renovated the building.
Kirk leased the building to a charter school, Crossroads Academy, in 2012 for $1 a month.
I believed this building was built in 1928.
Originally home of Pickering Lumber Company
300 W. 11th
Originally the American Hereford Association Building
The Big 12 is in town.
People are walking around everywhere.
Folly Theater
Part of the started adventure of Historic Theaters
Opened in 1901 with burlesque and vaudeville performances.
13th and Central.
This was a park over a parking garage.
This is what it will look like in 2026.
I'm claiming the sign that is supposed to be here.
Sign #16/ 44 to go
Old Convention Hall
Old Convention Center
Sign #17/ 43 left to find
Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission
Last sign for today.
Sign #18/ 42 left to find.

This was a mix of adventures today. Buildings, signs, theater, and don't forget history. I walked from 9th and Central to 15th and Main and back and forth between Central and Main. At the last stop Case Park I met two of the nicest KCMO Parks and Rec Maintenance employees. We talked for 30 minutes about Kansas City and things I should visit. I'd seen most of it. It was warm but overall a wonderful day.
Until tomorrow.
