Today I decided to stay home and bake. The weather is forecasted to take a turn for the worse and it's nice and warm at home. We will be baking one of Ina Garten recipes from the Food Network.
The hardest part of this recipe was trying to cut the circle of parchment for the bottom of the pan.
I didn't take pictures of the mixing.
It's ready for the oven.
The middle of the cake fell a little
No problem - I'm frosting it.
I followed the recipe to make the chocolate buttercream.
I have never put an egg yolk in frosting before.

I made an 8" single layer cake.
I just put the frosting on the top.
I was trying to be artistic - I've seen it on baking sites.
This cake has buttermilk in it which makes it so moist.
The frosting is good too.
Second bake for February.
