Baking for the Week - Brazilian Jubilee Cookies

This week the recipe we tried week was a Pillsbury Bake-off Winner in 1952, Brazilian Jubilee Cookie.  The updated recipe said you could use any nut: almonds, pecans, or walnuts.  I chose almonds.  I can not tell you why.

I chopped the almonds and got all ingredients ready.

It is a very easy recipe.

The recipe called for coffee.  I'm not a coffee drinker.
I added coffee to half of the dough for my taste testers.
As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, you put chocolate stars on the cookies.

So pretty.

My review.  Yesterday I thought the cookies were bland.  They must have needed the coffee for flavor and I should have added something else.  But today, they were wonderful.  I still think I should have added almond flavoring for more flavor.  I have not dropped off the coffee cookies for the tasting.  I will get a review later.
