The adventure email today wanted us to visit a stationery stores. Here are some details. Over 1.3 billion cards are sent during the Christmas season. National Letter Writing Day (Dec 7), National Send a Card to a Friend Day (Feb 7), Stationery Store Day (first Saturday in August), and World Letter Writing Day (Sept 1). We are going to visit a couple of the suggested shops.
Our first stationery store is May Day Paper and Post. This was actually one of stops on the West Plaza Treasure Hunt this weekend.
This little shop is so sweet.
They have over 700 cards.
99% of their vendors are from small studios, makers, artists and printers.
Sometimes there is a shop dog, Lucy.
She was not there on Saturday.
I did buy a card from the store. It cost about $5. I do not buy greeting cards so I'm not sure if that is high or low. It's such a cute store. I stopped the treasure hunt and shopped for awhile.
This was one of my 3 Shop Small Saturday purchases. I will definitely come back to this store.
The second store I selected is Paper Source. They have items in Barnes and Noble but they actually have a store in the plaza.
Paper Source
This store is much bigger than May Day.
They have lots of stuff but they are also a national store.
This was a really neat store.
I think you can find a little bit of everything here.
Both stores were very nice. I'm glad I picked these 2 stores out of the many listed in the adventure email to visit. I will admit to being a paper person. I write things down and make lists. I take notes and leave reminders for myself. I do have a notebook problem also. We don't need to talk about that.
I'm not really sure why this was an adventure but we did it and it was fun. We will be stopping at one more stationery shop, the largest, headquartered in Kansas City - drumroll...Hallmark. We will do that later this week.
One last thing stated in the adventure email.
Stationary is an adjective that means not moving.
Stationery is a noun that means paper for writing letters.
Until tomorrow.
