Kansas City Parks and Rec have held a tour at a different park every Sunday this month. This week it was held at Penn Valley Park. That's pretty close to me so I had no excuse not to go.
They are also having a Plein Air Painting Contest.
There were lots of artists around The Scout.
The park was at one time a quarry for limestone.
It was a route for pioneers on the Santa Fe Trail

Charles Carroll Spalding Memorial
The first booster for Kansas City.
1858 - for the man who had the vision to see the future city

Penn Valley Lake
This lake is designed to catch rain water.
I might have heard wrong but I think he said it could flood 7 feet.
It is very pretty.
Back up a very big hill to my car. When I arrived at the park it was 54 degrees when I left it was over 70. I was melting. I'm very glad I went. I had walked around some of it before but I felt uncomfortable with the parked cars. It was nice walking with a group.
Until tomorrow.
