Today I had the opportunity to go to Powell Gardens with 4 of my kids. Although the focus was on the butterflies we walked the gardens which are beautiful. Of course I got the public art map.
Garden kaleidoscope
Close Quarters
Hibiscus were everywhere
View of part of the lake.
Blue Sentinel
My favorite part was the lily pad garden.
The flowers were so perfect that they looked fake.
There were also several glass blown lilies.
There was a creek with a couple of small waterfalls.
A Roll Through The Junipers
There is a church venue
Complete with fountains
Inside church
View of the lake and park
And a second fountain.
I was getting a little cranky by now. I was tired, thirsty, and had diva hunger.
At the playground
Celebration Apple
A room full of succulents
Another fountain.
My favorite water feature flowed beside the steps down.
I was hot!! We went in to see the butterflies and I bought a lemonade slushy. I drank that so fast. I felt so much better having something cold and being in the ac.
After getting my attitude corrected we found a lady bug
and praying mantis.
I had the most wonderful day with the kids.
This place is just beautiful. It's about 45 min - 1 hour from Kansas City. I probably won't go back. It is definitely an all day event. Make sure you take food and water so you don't become a cranky diva.
I'm exhausted.
