A piece of the White House

Our adventure today took me out in the heat to find a piece of the White House.  It's located at Southwest High School.  I waited until summer to do this one so I would not be the creepy person walking around taking pictures.  Then I read the school was closed in 2016.

This is it.  I walked by it on the way to the flagpole.

The flagpole was what the articles I read said to find.

The flagpole - In grateful memory of Louis A. House, who coached football, basketball and track at Southwest High School, 1925-1955.  His teams were perennial city champions.  Thanks to President Truman, the stones in this monument were from the original White House prior to 1812 and were recovered in the course of extensive reconstruction during President Truman's Administration.
 - Class of 1935

From my research I have learned, no one really know what it was.  The flagpole is on one side of the track and the stones are on the other side.

Recently, in the past 2 years, a plague has been mounted on the White House Stones.

Pretty cool.
Now on to the school.

This place is massive.  This is just the side.

Look at that door.

Corner of the front of the building.

Beautiful

It just keeps going.
I didn't it was hot.

Better view of the front.

Built in 1925.

That's it.  Our outside hot weather adventure.  What a beautiful school.  In my research I learned KCMO is possibly making apartments in a closed school for first year teachers to rent at a discount.
What a good idea!

Until tomorrow.
