Sheila Kemper Dietrich Park / Hawthorne Park

I had big plans for today.  I was so excited to see the Historic Garment Museum.  I thought I had an appointment but when I got there no one answered.  I sent an email to my contact and was told the other group cancelled.  So off I went to find other treasures.

I found this church at Gillham and 26th street.  It was so nice I had to stop.

The arches are beautiful.  You know I don't have any filters so I tried the door.  Locked.  I just have to assume it's beautiful on the inside too.

I believe this is St. Francis.

Across the street I found Sheila Kemper Dietrich Park or Hawthorne Park, 2601 Gillham Rd.  This park is in one of my books and on the list to visit.  I never thought I would just stumble across it.  This group of characters welcome you to the park but also spell it in sign language.

The cutest sea monster ever.

This sign says Hawthorne Park.

Super cute.

There is sign to learn sign language

and braille.  I love this.

Just one more discovery - puzzle pieces.  It's across the street from the park near 27th and Gillham.  I believe this building could be Hallmark.

Overall all it was a great day of treasure hunting even though it started with disappointment.  I will see the Garment Museum just not today.  Being a puzzler, the puzzle pieces are great.  I have not read about them anywhere.  I'm glad they were seen today.

Until our next adventure.
