Today the Library District was the goal. It's easy to find the library.
I knew I was in the right place. The book spines cover the parking garage.
This is the library. It was the old First National Bank building. I actually found the original building when I was in the Government District.

So inside I went. The building is massive. Six floors of books. I applied for and received a Missouri Library card. I had no proof of address so I can only check out 10 books at a time. If I show proof of address I can check out 75 books at a time. I stopped the guy - did you say 75? Yes he did. I can't even imagine carrying that many books to the car.
There is a display about the First National Bank.
The basement has doors that were vault doors.
One of the vaults is for movies. They have a movie set to play but I think you can also pick out one of their movies
The door must be at least 2 feet thick.
Inside the theater.
This ship model is for a friend of mine. He is going to build models after he retires. This was donated to the library by the builder. It's probably 4 feet long x 3 feet tall. Just a suggestion.
I did go to every floor but I did spend some time exploring. I didn't check out a book either or 10. I don't feel that organized yet.
Down the street is a statue of Mark Twain.
Me and Mr.Twain
Just a random picture of a beautiful building near where I parked.
This is Part 1 of the Library District. There is so much to explore in this area.
More to come.
