I have heard since I moved here that there is a cave in Roanoke Park. I have also heard that sometimes people have opened it and that KC Park and Rec close it back up. There are articles about people exploring the cave when they "find" it open. Rumor is that there is a tunnel that runs from Roanoke Park to Hyde Park but no one can prove that. Recently Park and Rec has decided open the cave for bats. They will be putting a gate in place so people can't get in but bats can. Of course we had to check this out.
It's fenced off so people like me don't get to close.

There is wood across the bottom.
You can't see it but at the back of the cave it looks like another opening.
They are draining water from it.
This is a strange thing to me being from Wichita but around here there are natural springs all over. The spring water from the cave will be redirected to form a pool with a bridge and ferns. So one day we will go back to see the finished product.
