William B. Strang Jr.

I have to admit my curiosity got the better of me.  I had to look up William  B. Strang Jr.

He is credited as the founder of Overland Park, Kansas.  In 1905, he purchased 600 acres which would become part of Overland Park.

Strang founded the trolley car line which travelled from Olathe, Kansas to Kansas City, MO.  It was nicknamed the Strang Line.  The line ran from 1906 to 1940.  It connected the city to the country and country to the city.  It finally stopped running when it could no longer compete with the automobile.

Please note - All of these lines of trolleys which were abandoned but are now wanted again.  They have finished one expansion and are looking at others.  Every now and then there will be a report on the news of tracks found.  KCMO just has one street car now running from City Market to Union Station, and will run to UMKC later this year.

While I was looking around Overland Park I missed another Strang storage building and also a statue of Mr. Strang.  I will go back to get pictures of those later.

For the moment this finishes up Overland Park.  It's such a large area but doesn't have many brown signs, historic registry buildings, or really anything I'm interested in.  They do have 2 museums but I haven't got to see them yet.  The median house price is over $500,000.  There is a lot about that on the news.

Until tomorrow.
