Following my desire to stay inside I have made another repair. At least 4 months ago I broke the handle on the microwave. My first thought was replace the thing but it's over the stove and controls the exhaust fan and a light. I have no idea what that would cost or how to install it. Really when I have bought a microwave in the past I just go to Walmart and pick one.
So we are replacing the handle.
I watched a video.
Step 1 - Unplug
In the video step two was to remove this screw.
This supposedly is to allow the vent cover to be removed.
Step 3 is to fix the plastic vent cover because your model had 3 additional screws.
Step 4 Remove the door.
The easiest thing so far.
Step 5 Remove the cover.
Easy if you have worked on computers.
I had to remove the screws from the broken pieces.
Then attach the new handle and put screws in.
Put door back on, put broken vent cover back on with a clothes pin holding the broken piece in place.
I cleaned it too.
You knew I would break something else.
$14.99 fix and it's done. I have put the screw back into the broken piece and everything seems to okay so far. It was a pretty easy fix and something I have never tried before. I have completed all of my repairs now. What will I do during the rest of the oppressive heat?
Until tomorrow.
