My new drain

This was a greatest adventure for a very warm weekend.  I wasn't sure how to do it so I had asked for help.  But I was looking at it and thinking about it and decided to give it a try.  If it didn't work I had already asked for help.

This is what I started with.

This was the hardest part.

Getting the old drain out.

Finally I did it!

Putting the new one in was easy.

I got everything put back together.

I must be honest,  I took it apart and put it back together 4 times.  I tested and tested and had a drip.  I thought I finally got it.

It clicks to be a stopper.

And it works!!

Today I took everything apart again.  I had a very small drip.  I put plumber's tape on everything and I think I finally have it.  

I'm quit happy with the final outcome.  And I did it!  5 tries but who's counting.

Dodgers vs. Royals

 I went to the K today for a Royals game with the kids.  I was worried it would be hot but as we got there it rained.  The game was delayed.  The temperature was perfect with a cool breeze.

There was 1 man sitting in the rain.  He is the biggest fan.

The mascot was out.

We got to see Shohei Ohtani bat several times.

The 2 times I was paying attention he hit pop flies and they were caught.

The Royals lost but I had a wonderful time.  The temperature and the company were great.

Hot again - Ice Cream Shops

 I've been doing things around the house today which I will tell you about later this week.  It's hot again but cooler at 86.  This was a very quick adventure.  Our summer task to visit as many of the ice cream places we can.

It was so late (mid-afternoon) I just ran to Winstead's to get a banana split to go.

I got to look at this all the way home (about 5 minutes).

It was a traditional banana split with pineapple, strawberry and chocolate.

I compare all ice cream to Braums.  This one was good but not Braums.  There wasn't anything I didn't like about it.  What I liked - the traditional toppings, 3 cherries, lots of whip cream and the ice cream was good.  Also the price at $5.49.  I think it might be cheaper inside.  

This also finishes up Winstead's.  We won't blog about them anymore.

I put together so many puzzles I love the Plaza library has a puzzle swap.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Baking Fail

 
I was so craving cookies.  Even with the very warm temps.

I had all of the ingredients.

I whipped them up.

I made 12 big scoops to freeze.

I have been reading about this on the baking sites.  

They all seem to do it.

My cookies were flat as a pancake.  I reread the recipe and I added everything, eggs and butter were at room temp but I didn't chill the dough.  The kitchen also heated up very quickly.  I don't know.  I will eat them anyway.  It makes me sad.

Snooze A.M.

Today we are visiting Snooze A.M.  I was reading the reviews and one thing was mentioned over and over - the OMG French Toast.

They have outside eating too but it's close to 300 degree today.

This is why I came here.

The decor was nice mid-century modern.

I love the lights.

I think my grandparents had a lamp like this.

Starbursts

It only took about 10 minutes to order and receive my food.

Not bad.

It was good.

Not as good as all the reviews said but it was good.

The service was great.  The food was good.  It was a nice meal.

Beating the heat inside

 Today 15lb isn't here, it's 95 + outside with a heat index of about 105 and I think it's time to address the pinecones.  First let me admit I have a pinecone issue.  They are so cute.  I started with the pinecones I had brought over from storage and ones I have picked up in Kansas City.  

I drilled a hole in the bottom of the pinecones.

I had already bought wire from Lowes.

I went to storage to get the rest of them.

After about 2 hours this is what I had.

I used up all of the wire then threw the rest of the pinecones away.

Now they need to be arranged.  On pinterest people have painted them.  I'm not sure what I'll do with them now but at least this project is well under way and I stayed cool.  One day soon they will be beautiful.
