Today was the Lunar New Year Festival. This is the year of the snake. The Nelson-Atkins was packed again. I went to look at the China rooms.
This is very random. I was shown this elevator to take once.
Remember when there was an elevator operator? This is one of the levers they would have used.
Back to the China Art Rooms. I made it to the second level.

Buddha
Another Buddha
The featured Hokusai exhibit has closed but they are still showing some of his paintings.
1 of his 36 views of Mt. Fuji.
I walked through the modern section.
I found a Thomas Hart Benton
Bodhisattva seated on a Lotus
Bodhisattvas are enlightened beings who have vowed to assist others on their spiritual paths.
She is just beautiful.
Ceremonial Necklace for Nandi Sculpture
Nandi - the devoted bull companion of the Hindu god Shiva.
A buddha carved from one tree.
A little bit of dancing
Lion decorations
The lion dance I could not see.
My goal was to see the lion dance. I missed it last year. I did see a little bit of the lions this year.
The museum was very busy today. The Lunar New Year has been celebrated on the day of the playoff game this year and last year. I think everyone comes to the museum early so they can be home for the game. I had so much fun.
