Cesar Chavez Mural, Gage Park and the Guadalupe Center

Today the temperatures were wonderful, the sun is shining and we are headed out on an adventure email.  I have signed up for many newsletters and other things but one of my favorites is the adventure email from KCUR, the local NPR station in Kansas City.  This is one of their adventures.

On the westside of Kansas City, MO is a Cesar Chavez Mural.  It recently received a makeover.

A local artist, Juan Moya, has been painting and maintaining this mural for 30 years.

In September of 2024 he started his work again.

He worked for 43 days, 7 days a week.

Beautiful

The  stairs lead up to Gage Park.

This park is definitely built on a hill.

It's a long park with a playground, a soccer field, basketball court and open space.

At the other end of the park there is a stairway leading up to the neighborhood.

And a stairway leading down to the street.

Across the street from the mural is the Guadalupe Center

Culinary, Cultural, and Senior Center

I went in.

I just wondered around.  No one stopped me.  The seniors were ready to play bingo.  I picked up the January senior schedule and left.  They play bingo 3 days a week.  The seniors can also eat lunch there.

Then I went grocery shopping.

Until tomorrow.
