I started out today doing errands and just trying to get things done. My friend from Wichita is also a puzzler. I had 30 puzzles from this past year and she is taking 20 back to Wichita. I'm so happy. I saved them for her. We have swopped puzzles for many years.
I took 5 of the puzzles she didn't want to Half Price Books. They gave me a $1 a puzzle. I bought another puzzle.
I took another bag of stuff to the thrift store.
Then went inside and bought 3 more puzzles.
I do not need anymore puzzles for a while.
This is at the corner and I have never taken a picture.
I honestly am not entirely sure who the people are and what it's representing.
There is a church on the other side of the parking lot.
I have always wanted to explore it.
Today was the day.
Gardens and a colonnade
The colonnade goes to the rectory.
House across the street.
Cornerstone
Beautiful church
Rectory
By now I have been walking all around this church and through the middle. Someone came out to see what I was doing. He takes care of the church and invited me inside.
It is beautiful.
Stain glass windows are everywhere.
They were put in after 1912.
This church is known as the bridge church.
Once a bridge was planned across the rivers to join Kansas City Kansas with Kansas City Missouri.
The idea was discarded but they had all of the stones already.
A person from St. James was given the stones but the church had to move them from the river to the church location.
The church is built with these stones.
The church serves people from 20 countries.
He wanted me to take a picture.
He was very proud of this.
Today there are no priests living in the rectory.
It's the office for the manager.
He is retiring at the end of the year and returning to his home in the Philippines.
It's been hit by 6 typhoons this year. He wants to help with recovery and repair.
This was an unexpected adventure that became a wonderful story. I'm so glad I was creepy enough the manager came out to see what I was doing.
Enjoy today!
