Today I went on the First Annual Volker Homes Tour.  $25

Prospero's was the check-in and first stop.

Kansas City Shirtwaist was the second stop.

Across the street from these 2 homes is Rosedale, the Volker Mansion.

There are 2 huge houses

I forgot to take a picture of the outside of the 4th House.
This is their kitchen.

On the way to the 5th house we passed by this building.
Gordan Parks Elementary

The fifth house is the Lustron House.
Lustron homes are prefabricated homes made of enameled steel.
There are about 2000 left nationwide.  Developed post WW2 due to housing shortage.

Straight out of Bewitched

Last stop - Classic Bungalow

Then back to my car.

I had a lot of fun and the group of people around me were so nice.  Several of the homes let people in the homes in groups.  We seemed to kind of stay together through the rest of the tour.

My only complaint was the heat.  We are in record breaking heat this weekend.  I really hope this is not what the rest of the summer holds.  Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a summer person.  I hate the heat and tend to melt and get whiny.

Until tomorrow.
