Valentine Neighborhood

I starting thinking yesterday about the neighborhoods in Kansas City, MO.  There are about 240 neighborhoods according to Visit KC.  I decided to look at Valentine.  I have driven through this neighborhood so many times but I really haven't stopped.  Secondly, isn't the name just cute.

Valentine is border by Southwest Trafficway on the west, Broadway on the east, 31st Street on the north and 39th or 40th Street on the south.  It is bordered by Westside South on the North and Westport to the south.  The main street is full of beautiful houses.  Many of the them are huge.  They are lots of apartments also.

This one looked like a castle.

I didn't see any schools but they do have the Metropolitan Community College.  It's a nice looking school and pretty big for being in the middle of everything.

This was on their campus.  I would call it a cow because it has utters but it also has horns.

Art outside of their Art Center.

I didn't find any parks.  No grocery stores but SunFresh where I go is one block over.  There are many restaurants and bars.  Not many stores within their borders.  I did find the Optum Community Center where Chris has instructed me to enroll.  Because I trip on things (twice).

There are not many historic building registered.  Most of the houses could be on the register if they wanted.  One that is - The Uptown Theater.

There is a dome on top but it doesn't show up well.

The whole building is detailed.

The only mural I saw

I have been wanting to visit Brownes.  Irish Deli, Bar, and store.

VFW National Head Quarters are here.  I've posted about this before.

I have shown some pictures of the Kansas City Life Insurance before.

What a building

I didn't know about this.  It's ball fountain but of course was not on yet.

This is Valentine.  I drive through or around it probably 3 times a week.  I'm so glad I really took time to look at it.  I'm putting Browne's on our list to visit and also the Art Center at MCC.  I'll be back.

Until tomorrow.

Really out of my comfort zone but tonight I went a wine tasting.   The HOA president told me about it last Friday. I walk to the end of the...
