Chouteau Markers Part 2

Well I tried again to find marker 1.  Once again I walked and walked.  No marker.  So I start over.  If you remember I found a park on top of a parking garage during the last time I looked.  The park is called The Barney Allis Plaza.

The Barney Allis Plaza is supposed to have: Old French Kansas City Marker, Convention Center Marker, Bronco Buster, and another marker for the Phoenix Society.

None of the markers are here.

I have been driving myself crazy.  It's truely not here.  None of them are.

But once again I found beautiful  buildings

I have to find out what this building is.

What caught eye was the very top

You can't see it really good but it looks like a castle.

Almost impossible to see but this building says Downtown Garage

This is the Barney Hotel.  Historical Landmark.

Angels

Pegaus

The front doors

On another corner I found the Folly Theater

Back to the french, Francios and Berenice Chouteau are known as the Father and Mother of settlement that grew into Kansas City.  They established the first permanent settlement in 1821.  A community grew in the French Bottoms (now West Bottoms).  In 1850 Cyprian Chouteau and partners built a trading post.  I posted about it during the ice storm - The oldest brick building in Kansas City, now Kelly's.

Marker 2 Chouteau's Church

Marker 3 The Old French Cemetery

Marker 4 Chez Les Canses or Chouteau's French Bottoms

Marker 7

Marker 5 Bourgmont

Marker 8 The Old Chouteau Trading Post at River Market

Marker 9 French Bottoms

And this is where my search ends.  I was so interested in this topic but it has been so frustrating.  My search stops here because the map from the Chouteau Society of the 11 markers only shows 10.  I'm done.  Hopefully I will pick up the others just by chance.

Can't wait for the next adventure.
