Waldo Thai Dinner

Today was a day to get things done.  I ran some errands and did things around the condo.  The snowmen are put up and hearts are out.

Tonight I ate with Chris at Waldo Thai.

It was fabulous.

We had:
Gai Hor Bai Tauy (the pandan leaf wrapped chicken)
Poh Piah Nua (spiced beef spring rolls)
    Gai Gratiam (tempura fried chicken)
    Phad Phak Ruam (vegetables)

I forgot my phone so pictures are courtesy of Chris.  Dinner was great.  The company was better.

Tomorrow I'm off to find Marker #1.  I'm determined.  I've done more research and have more clues.

Until tomorrow.

Chouteau Society Markers and other Treasures

Today I started off with a solid plan, I am going to find the 11 French Chouteau Society Markers.  I had a map with the everything marked.  So I set out for Marker 1.

I found a park on top of a garage with a hotel.

Coffee Shop

And this beauty, Municipal Auditorium Arena

Up on my park the columns lead to the view of the arena

Little Theater on the left

Music Hall on the right.

On the side - Comedy, Drama, Tragedy

Kansas City Convention Center

I found all of these things.  Guess what I didn't find - Marker 1.  I walked around for 40 minutes and walked around 2 blocks.

I found Marker 2!!

Near the gold dome church

The buildings were so beautiful here

Marker #3

I only found 5 of the 11 markers.  I was directed to Case Park.  One of my favorite spots in the city.  Also it had 3 more markers.

One picture I got was the Buck O'Neil Bridge.
It's being replaced.

So tomorrow I will try to find the rest.

Art Sculptures on the Plaza Part 1

Today we went on a different kind of adventure.  We being myself and Charlie.  We walked to the Plaza and took pictures of the art sculptures.  The Plaza lists 39 art sculptures.

He was very tired afterwards.

#38 Court of the Penguins

They were taking down the Christmas lights.

The penguins have fountains on both sides.

I just love the penguins

#39 Santa Maria Light

They had something like a photo booth for the 100 years on the Plaza.
Charlie did not want to have his picture taken.

#37 Ben Franklin

#29 Mercury

I liked the bottom.  The head holding up Mercury.

I love the face

Ok that was our walk.  That was only 8 of the 39 items from the plaza list.  Charlie was tired.  I have learned Charlie does not like trucks (pickups, delivery, or semi).  I walked home the wrong way.  We climbed a mountain instead of a gentle hill.  We will keep going back until we get all 39.  As I have sat here typing Charlie has gone into a deep sleep.  He is really tired.

Until our next adventure.

Lunar New Year at the Nelson Atkins Museum

Usually I take Sunday off but today I went to the Lunar New Year Celebration at the Nelson Atkins Museum.  I went early thinking no one else will be up on Sunday.  Boy was I wrong.  I didn't count but lets just say lots and lots of people.  I waited in line for parking for at least 15 minutes.

I wanted  to see the dancing.  I like dancing.

The dancing was beautiful

I'm not sure what this instrument is but it sounds beautiful.

These girls were amazing.

After the performance I went upstairs to see the fashion pieces.  They are so beautiful.  Everything was hand sewn.

Cloud Collar

Outfit

The museum was decorated with lanterns, paper umbrellas and other decorations.

Charlie had a hard time when I left.  It really took awhile.  He would bark as soon as he heard the outside door close.  I keep going back until I got him calmed down.

I drove to the museum and waited in a long, long to park.  I almost turned around. I'm glad I waited it out.  The dancing was great and Charlie was quiet and calm when I got home.  I had hoped to eat here too but I wasn't going near that line.  I must tell everyone that most people had on Chiefs gear.  Don't forget the playoff game is today.  I promised Chris that I would watch.  Well at least the first half.

Until tomorrow.  I have a plan.

Wine Tasting

Really out of my comfort zone but tonight I went a wine tasting.   The HOA president told me about it last Friday. I walk to the end of the...
